One805 Live! Fundraiser Returns to Support First Responders' Mental Health

This event brings together musicians and first responders, including police, fire, and dispatch personnel, to fund mental wellness services for those working on the front lines. Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO Kirsten Cavendish Weston-Smith emphasized, "we are all served by the first responders and this has given us an opportunity to serve them."

Along with her husband, Richard Weston-Smith, who is also a co-founder, One805 Live! has facilitated the establishment of an endowment for future support of firefighters and their families. An advisory group consisting of former chiefs and law enforcement leaders informs the initiative.

This year's events will be hosted at Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams property, which overlooks the scenic Carpinteria and Summerland area. As preparations were underway, Costner highlighted the significance of coming together as a community for this important cause, especially in light of challenges faced during emergencies like the Montecito event and the Thomas Fire.

Throughout the year, supporters have shared testimonials from those who utilize these essential services. Santa Barbara City Police Chief Kelly Gordon stated, "I can tell you that when officers and firefighters have a bad day, having access to these services...makes a difference." Additionally, Lt. Jarrett Morris of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office noted the importance of therapeutic services in dealing with difficult experiences and helping younger deputies.

One805 Live! offers a platform for the public to engage with first responders during a non-emergency context, fostering community connections. First responders will be acknowledged on stage, with discussions on long-term wellness services.

Cavendish Weston-Smith described how One805 evolved from collaboration with fire chiefs to create desired services. This year's event will include performances by George Thorogood, Pat Benatar and Neil Gerardo, Alan Parsons, Slightly Stoopid, the Four Tops, the Temptations, the Fray, Plastic Harpoons, and other special guests. Many performers have personal connections to first responders.

Costner will perform with his band, Modern West, during the event. Previous stars who have participated include Kenny Loggins, Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and many others, highlighting the influential mix of celebrities and community leaders supporting the cause.

The event collaborates with non-profits such as Adam's Angels, the Bucket Brigade, and Santa Barbara Humane, which assist first responders with various services. Additional general admission tickets for the event can be found at ONE805.org.
