The study will center on cognitive flexibility, which is the capacity to modify thoughts, objectives, and actions in response to changing circumstances. Researchers indicate that difficulties in this area may exacerbate symptoms related to various mental health disorders and suicidal ideation.
The research team plans to evaluate computerized cognitive training alongside neuromodulation techniques, specifically low-intensity focused ultrasound. These methods may be integrated for participants with the most severe symptoms.
The funding is provided by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Participant enrollment is expected to commence this fall. Individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts are encouraged to contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
