A collection of real-world studies will also detail the application of daridorexant in everyday clinical settings, analyzing its effects on sleep quality, daytime functioning, quality of life, and work productivity. Additional analyses will explore its efficacy in adults experiencing insomnia and short sleep duration, as well as the shifting use of insomnia treatments across six different countries.
Idorsia Ltd (SIX: IDIA) is actively advancing research on insomnia at this leading European congress, which will occur from October 20 to 23, 2026. Among the studies presented will be the first clinical investigation of a dual orexin receptor antagonist for children with insomnia, along with new insights from real-world applications of daridorexant.
Pediatric insomnia can lead to significant issues such as poor sleep quality, decreased academic performance, and reduced quality of life, particularly in children with neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Currently, pharmacological treatment options for these disorders are scarce, with only prolonged-release melatonin approved for select pediatric uses in Europe and no approved medications in the U.S.
The controlled Phase 2 study investigated doses of daridorexant (10, 25, and 50 mg) over two weeks in children aged 10 to under 18 with insomnia disorders, including those with neurodevelopmental challenges. The findings will be presented by Professor Carmen M. Schröder during the congress.
Real-world evidence will be showcased in two separate poster presentations during the event. The ProDiGyA study will present interim findings on treatment patterns for insomnia in Germany and Austria, while a Canadian study will discuss quality of life and productivity changes associated with daridorexant treatment.
Further analysis will present data from a Phase 3 adult study assessing daridorexant's safety and efficacy in individuals with insomnia and short sleep duration. Additionally, an examination of how the introduction of dual orexin receptor antagonists has influenced the use of traditional insomnia medications will be discussed.
Several investigator-initiated studies will showcase daridorexant’s potential, including studies focusing on its effects in menopausal women and in patients with both epilepsy and chronic insomnia. These studies aim to deepen the clinical understanding of insomnia's management.
Idorsia Pharmaceuticals is dedicated to developing innovative treatments for insomnia and other conditions, hoping to address the growing public health crisis of sleep disorders. Their dual orexin receptor antagonist, daridorexant, is specifically designed to improve insomnia symptoms without causing next-day drowsiness or dependence.
The Sleep Europe congress is set to draw over 3,000 sleep professionals from around the world to exchange the latest advancements in sleep research and medicine.
