The ingredient supplier will unveil three distinct clear shake concepts targeting specific consumer needs: strength, endurance, and mobility. This innovation aims to cater to individual lifestyles and specific activity requirements, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to protein consumption. By combining protein with functional ingredients, these products enhance the user experience during various physical activities.
The three concepts include the BUILD Resistance Shake, which features Lacprodan ISO.RefreshShake whey protein isolate and creatine, designed for strength training, weightlifting, and CrossFit. The SUSTAIN Endurance Shake incorporates Lacprodan Pro2O, carbohydrates, and electrolytes, targeting endurance activities like running and cycling, where energy and hydration are key. Lastly, the MOVE Mobility Shake combines Lacprodan ISO.WaterShake with collagen, aimed at activities that require mobility and flexibility such as yoga, pilates, gymnastics, and dance.
Peter Schouw Andersen, senior director of performance nutrition at Arla Foods, said these innovations demonstrate how clear whey protein isolates can provide brands with versatile solutions tailored to consumer needs.
The push for personalization aligns with a broader trend where sports nutrition increasingly intersects with mainstream food and beverage markets. Consumers are placing higher value on convenience and variety in their protein intake, leading brands to develop products focused on hydration, energy recovery, and weight management.
In addition to clear shakes, Arla is also showcasing other concepts at the SupplySide event, including an AirBar with Nutrilac PB-8420, an aerated milk protein bar that offers a lighter sensory experience compared to traditional dense bars. Another product is a low-calorie, water-based protein shot aimed at consumers with reduced appetite, featuring Lacprodan BLG-100 to provide 21g of protein per 100ml.
Furthermore, Arla will introduce a protein soda that combines the refreshing elements of a sparkling beverage with whey protein isolate. Using Lacprodan Pro2O, this concept demonstrates the ability to incorporate protein into familiar soft drink formats, blurring the lines between sports nutrition and functional beverages.
Overall, Arla's initiatives at SupplySide Global reflect a commitment to developing targeted nutrition solutions, diverse formats, and products designed for specific consumer occasions, as the demand for high-protein dairy continues to rise.
