The study revealed that individuals who slept more than nine hours a day were 1.45 times more likely to experience frailty compared to those who averaged 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Furthermore, those sleeping less than 7 hours showed a risk of frailty that was more than double.
The research team recommended a sleep duration of 7 to 8 hours as optimal for health. It is important to note that the data regarding sleep patterns was self-reported, and the authors acknowledged that prolonged sleep may be a symptom of existing health issues. Nonetheless, they emphasized the critical role sleep plays in overall health.
