McGill University's Office of the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) held its annual Bravo Gala to honor faculty and researchers who have achieved notable awards on provincial, national, and international levels. Xin Zhao, Distinguished James McGill Professor in Animal Science, was named a Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association for over 20 years of service in lactation physiology, mastitis research, antimicrobial resistance, and gut health. He has mentored more than 100 graduate students and published over 280 refereed journal articles.

Jaswinder Singh, a Professor in Plant Science, received the Mary E. Spencer Award from the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists for significant contributions to plant biology and public service. His research emphasizes crop genomics and biotechnology to enhance yield stability and environmental resilience.

Treena Wasonti:io Delormier, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Nutrition, was awarded the D2R Genomic Medicine and Indigenous Health Award at the 2025 Rendez-Vous Génome Québec for her research on culturally safe practices in health research involving Indigenous Peoples.

Akbarzadeh Shafaroudi, Abdolhamid, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Programmable Multifunctional Metamaterials, was named a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering. He directs the Advanced Multifunctional and Multiphysics Metamaterials Lab (AM3L), where his bio-inspired design work has led to eight provisional patents and 138 publications.

Pascal Thériault, Director of the Farm Management and Technology Program at Macdonald Campus, received the Prix coup-de-coeur Marc-Alain Soucy at the Moïse-Cossette competition for his column "Mes relèves, vos relèves," highlighting the next generation of Quebec farmers. He also won the President’s Prize for Public Engagement Through Media.

Xiaonan Lu, Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Food Safety, was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists for his research that merges molecular microbiology, analytical chemistry, engineering, and mathematics to improve food safety throughout the supply chain.

Anja Geitmann, Vice-President (Global Engagement) and Professor in Plant Science, was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her contributions to Canadian society.

Rodger Titman, Retired Associate Professor in Natural Resource Sciences, received the Jamie Smith Memorial Mentoring Award from the Society of Canadian Ornithologists for his exceptional mentoring in ornithology.

Sandy Phillips, Senior Faculty Lecturer in Human Nutrition, was named a Fellow of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec, recognizing her contributions to dietetics and nutrition research in the province.
