The discussion will feature experts from three continents, including representatives from the partnering organizations, who will share practical examples of how to ensure that lived experiences inform policy decisions and promote sustainable change.

Additionally, the webinar will introduce WHO’s new guide, titled Supporting the transition to community-based mental health and social care: practical guide to the deinstitutionalization of psychiatric hospitals. The discussion will examine the implications of deinstitutionalization for the rights and dignity of individuals with mental health conditions and emphasize the crucial role of those with lived experience in this transition.

Participants will learn how the guide can facilitate a shift from institutional care to a rights-based, person-centered approach within community mental health and social care settings.

Registration is required to attend the webinar.
