The Foundation recognizes that today’s youth face significant social pressure and high expectations. By providing early intervention support, it aims to prevent minor issues from developing into more severe challenges. The selected organizations have a proven track record of social impact and are positioned to expand their efforts to reach more young people.
Imke Baetens, a member of the Foundation's Advisory Board, stated that early warning signs in struggling youngsters are often noticeable and emphasized the importance of investing in prevention. She noted that the supported initiatives empower young people in their communities before they seek help.
The six organizations differ in their approaches but share the common goal of empowering youths. Their ability to extend their reach was a critical factor in their selection.
The organizations supported include:
- **Groep Intro**: Their PACT project addresses school absenteeism, underlining the crucial role of attendance in promoting well-being and future opportunities. PACT offers intensive support over a year, and the organization plans to expand this model.
- **City Pirates**: This initiative uses football to foster personal development among over 1,600 young individuals. City Pirates aims to enhance self-confidence and social skills while building a sense of community and belonging.
- **Warme Scholen**: Focused on creating a positive learning environment, Warme Scholen strives to enhance student welfare and academic performance, with plans to expand its model to Brussels and Wallonia.
- **TADA (ToekomstAtelierDelAvenir)**: This organization connects students with role models and professionals, helping them discover their talents and broaden their future prospects. TADA plans to roll out its programs nationally.
- **JINC**: Dedicated to strengthening the opportunities for young people from vulnerable backgrounds, JINC provides practical experiences and networking opportunities with professionals.
- **Young FENIX**: This organization focuses on preventive mental health support for underserved youths, offering personalized guidance to improve resilience and life prospects. Young FENIX intends to expand its reach in Antwerp and potentially other Flemish cities.
The KBC & Cera Foundation collaborates with an independent advisory board composed of experts in education and mental health to guide project selection and oversight. Patrick Kindt, Chairman of the Board, highlighted the diverse forms of prevention these organizations represent and their ambition to increase their impact.
The new website serves as a central hub for information on the supported organizations, members of the Advisory Board, and the Foundation’s initiatives. Initially focusing on proven projects, the Foundation plans to allow new organizations to apply for support in 2027.
Addressing the challenges faced by today’s youth requires a collective effort from various organizations and stakeholders. The KBC & Cera Foundation aims to contribute to a supportive environment where young people can develop their talents and approach their futures with confidence.
