The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) will hold its annual meeting, NUTRITION 2026, from July 25 to 28 in National Harbor, Maryland, near Washington, D.C. The conference will showcase over 1,650 scientific studies, presenting new research findings alongside discussions on AI-driven dietary tools, obesity treatments, GLP-1 therapies, food additive regulations, and future dietary guidance.

Founded in 1928, ASN is a leading professional organization for nutrition researchers and clinicians globally. The society fosters collaboration among top nutrition researchers, medical practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to enhance understanding and application of nutrition. ASN publishes four peer-reviewed journals and offers educational and professional development resources aimed at advancing nutrition research and practice.
Each year, faculty, researchers, staff, and students from the Friedman School at Tufts University participate in the ASN meeting, presenting posters, engaging in panel discussions, and conducting seminars. A schedule of attendees from the Friedman community will be available to aid in networking and collaboration.
Several awards will be presented during the conference. Jennifer Coates, PhD, will be recognized as the 2026 Excellence in Nutrition Fellow for her significant contributions to nutrition research. Sarah L. Booth, PhD, will receive the ASN Volunteer of the Year Award, while Cristina R. Moraga Franco, PhD, is awarded the ASN Pilot Grant for Early Career Members. The Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition will honor outstanding research by students and young investigators, with finalists including Alaa Alfudhail for "Effect of Skeletal Muscle FAT10 Inhibition on Body Weight and Systemic Metabolism" and Yue Zhan for "Effects of Hybrid Food Assistance Programs on Child Nutrition: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis."
