To celebrate the occasion, a selection of books has been showcased at the library, featuring titles recommended by Guernsey Mind aimed at helping individuals relax and gain new insights. Anna Symons, communications officer at Guille-Alles Library, emphasized the importance of reading in enhancing mental health and its numerous wellbeing benefits.

Recent survey results indicated that 64% of adults in Guernsey read regularly, while 39% of children engage in reading every day or nearly every day. Symons mentioned the goal of both the library and Guernsey Mind is to enhance reading levels in the community.

Furthermore, Symons pointed out that reading can foster community connections and help combat loneliness. She highlighted that participating in book clubs or discussing books with peers is vital for building relationships and increasing empathy among individuals.
