A recent analysis involving nearly 40,000 women indicates that a diet high in plant foods is beneficial for weight management during menopause. The study, which evaluated dietary habits every four years over a 12-year span around the time of menopause, found that nuts, legumes, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are linked to better weight management. In contrast, processed meats, as well as foods high in fat and sodium, were associated with weight gain. Previous research also suggests that soy foods may help reduce hot flashes in menopausal women.
