Located at the North Entrance of Lenape Hall, Oasis and Haven are two student-run crisis intervention centers offering peer support and hotlines for students seeking assistance. Both facilities are open from 8 p.m. to midnight daily, though they are closed during school breaks.
Oasis serves as a crisis walk-in and hotline resource, offering confidential support for students dealing with issues such as suicidal thoughts, depression, relationship problems, loneliness, academic stress, and more. Additionally, Oasis provides referrals for STD treatments and other campus services. Students can reach the Oasis hotline at (845) 257-4945 or simply walk in.
Haven, staffed by trained student volunteers, focuses on issues related to sexual violence, including sexual assault and harassment. Haven accepts walk-ins and appointments, and can be contacted at (845) 257-4930.
Students interested in volunteering with either Oasis or Haven can contact the Psychological Counseling Center at (845) 257-2920 for more information.
The PCC comprises a licensed team, including social workers, mental health counselors, and psychiatrists, offering both preventative and clinical services tailored to the SUNY New Paltz community. Located in the Student Health and Counseling Center, the PCC addresses a variety of issues, such as academic stress and relationship challenges, at no cost to students.
The PCC emphasizes culturally competent care, considering factors such as race, gender, and identity in its approach. Crisis intervention is also offered, with same-day appointments available for students facing urgent mental health issues. Initial visits begin with an intake appointment to identify students' specific needs, followed by options for group or individual sessions, referrals to local providers, or connections to other campus resources.
“Let’s Talk,” a weekly informal consultation offered by the PCC, allows students to meet with licensed clinicians on a first-come, first-served basis without an appointment. While this service is not a substitute for therapy, students seeking further assistance are encouraged to contact the PCC directly.
The PCC operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For crisis support, students can reach the PCC at (845) 257-2920. The National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is also available 24/7 at 988, offering assistance in both Spanish and English.
