
An overnight shooting involving Arlington police resulted in the death of a man during a response to a mental health crisis. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday at a residence in the 1700 block of West Lovers Lane, located south of Interstate 30.

According to police, the deceased was approximately 50 years old and was at home with family members who reported that he was experiencing emotional distress and had threatened to take his own life. An altercation ensued when the man allegedly charged at officers while holding a knife. One officer discharged their weapon, striking the man. He was subsequently taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The identity of the man has not been disclosed, and the Arlington Police Department stated that further information will be released in a statement later on Friday.
