The Lt. Governor’s Challenge, led by Lieutenant Governor Kyle Evans Gay, aims to highlight advancements in behavioral health and mental health within Delaware. Gay expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative, stating that it celebrates those who prioritize mental health and reduce stigma.
Nominations are open to Delaware residents, programs, and organizations that operate within the state, as well as regional and national organizations recognized for their impact in Delaware.
The awards categories include:
- The Youth Mental Health Champion Award, recognizing efforts to improve the mental health of young people in schools and communities.
- The Community Mental Health Innovation Award, honoring creative solutions that enhance access to mental health services.
- The Workplace Mental Health Leadership Award, acknowledging workplaces that foster a culture of mental well-being.
- The Recovery Champion Award, celebrating individuals who inspire and advocate for recovery from mental health or substance use challenges.
- The Maternal Mental Health and Family Wellness Award, which focuses on initiatives that advance maternal mental health and equitable care access.
After the nomination deadline, a review process will take place to select award recipients, involving reviewers from behavioral health, education, and public service backgrounds. Winners will be announced at the Lt. Governor’s Challenge ceremony on Tuesday, December 8, at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover.
This initiative encourages Delawareans to identify impactful programs and individuals, promoting awareness and fostering connections among those working to improve behavioral health in the state.
