The partnership signifies a commitment to increased funding for nutrition-based studies with the involvement of experts from Mass General Brigham and global scientists. Alessio Fasano, MD, Mead Johnson’s Senior Vice President of Research and Development, stated that initial projects will focus on the composition of human milk and the nutritional requirements for premature and vulnerable infants, including those with cow's milk protein allergy.
Research will leverage new tools and technologies, including the use of intestinal organoids to study premature infants' gut health. The projects will engage principal investigators, post-doctoral researchers, and lab personnel, aiming to advance foundational science in pediatric nutrition.
