Insomnia affects a significant portion of the adult population, with an estimated 10–30% experiencing chronic insomnia and 25–35% facing occasional insomnia. Notably, moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) coexists with insomnia in approximately 60% of patients. This overlap suggests that the Vida® appliance could effectively address sleep issues for a large segment of Vivos' target demographic.
At Sleep Centers of Nevada, where over 36,000 patients are referred annually for OSA testing and treatment, the company estimates that about 18,000 patients may also require insomnia treatment, translating to a potential annual market of approximately $36 million in Las Vegas alone. Since 2019, the center has tested close to 245,000 patients, many of whom might also benefit from insomnia interventions.
Given the limitations of current pharmacological and behavioral therapies, Vivos believes that an FDA-cleared, non-pharmacologic oral appliance showing significant symptom improvement could bolster revenue growth over time. The Vida® appliance, previously known as the Pod® oral appliance and developed by Advanced Facialdontics, is approved for multiple indications, including temporomandibular joint disorders and migraine headaches. Vivos is optimistic that the new insomnia data, alongside its regulatory status and clinical experience, will allow it to expand the appliance's use into various sleep-related conditions.
