In 2011, Sarah Merrick, the founder of Los Altos High School’s chapter of Let’s Erase Stigma, advocated for the establishment of a mental health club at her school. She recalls spending many hours advocating for the club’s charter. Merrick noted, "We had a very limited time from when the founders of LETS proposed the expansion to actually getting it into Los Altos High School as the pilot program." When she presented the idea to school administrators, including then Principal Wynne Satterwhite, the immediate response was skepticism: "This is going to cause more harm than good."
