Somnistics Research Labs has released an update to Pausality, its stress management app for Apple Watch and iPhone. This version now includes integration with AirPods Pro 3 for heart rate tracking and introduces full offline support along with encrypted local storage. Users can share biometric results cards that display their heart rate charts and the impact of breathing sessions.

The app features 21 clinician-designed breathing sessions that monitor real-time data including heart rate, blood oxygen level (SpO2), and respiratory rate. These measurements are provided live on users' devices as they engage in breathing exercises, offering immediate feedback rather than post-session results.

Co-founder and CEO Randy Graybeal, a certified registered nurse anesthetist with two decades of experience, designed the app's protocols based on respiratory physiology rather than wellness trends. The latest update aligns with the FDA’s General Wellness Policy, enacted in January 2026, which allows the use of heart rate, SpO2, and respiratory rate monitoring for wellness purposes without requiring device clearance.

Pausality emphasizes what the founders refer to as "physiological sovereignty," enabling users to understand and manage their stress responses directly on their wrists. The app is available for download for iPhone (iOS 18+) and Apple Watch (watchOS 11.1+) with subscription options priced at $49.99 per year or $12.99 per month, accompanied by a free trial.
