The late-breaking research session will showcase a placebo-controlled, two-week dose-finding study involving daridorexant in children and adolescents aged 10 to under 18 years with insomnia disorder, including those with neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Currently, pharmacological treatment options for pediatric insomnia are limited, as there are no approved medications in the US, and only prolonged-release melatonin is approved in specific pediatric populations in Europe.
In addition to the pediatric study, daridorexant's effectiveness in adults, including those with insomnia and short sleep duration, will be analyzed using real-world evidence. This includes evaluations of sleep outcomes, daytime functioning, quality of life, and work productivity across six different countries. Further studies will explore the drug's potential in menopausal women with insomnia, as well as patients with insomnia and comorbidities like epilepsy, major depressive disorder, or sedative-hypnotic use disorder.
The detailed results of the pediatric insomnia study will be presented by Professor Carmen M. Schröder during the "Impactful Clinical Trial Session II," and the findings will also be available in a poster session later on the same day.
