This research marks the first assessment of an AI-discovered sleep ingredient in a placebo-controlled trial. The findings were published in the journal Sleep Medicine: X. The eight-week, randomized, placebo-controlled pilot trial included 26 adults aged 18 to 65 who reported issues with sleep.
Key results showed that participants using PeptiSleep experienced improvements in their ability to fall asleep, sleep quality, and behaviors upon waking. The study also noted nominally significant differences in sleep initiation and maintenance compared to the placebo group.
Participants wore Oura wearables to monitor heart rate variability (HRV), overall heart rate (HR), and various sleep stages. Results indicated that the PeptiSleep group had increased HRV, a lower nocturnal HR, and more deep sleep, suggesting enhanced restorative sleep.
In conjunction with improved sleep, the PeptiSleep group also reported better mood. The supplement was well tolerated throughout the study, with no clinically significant safety concerns reported.
Nuritas stated that these results support the need for further research and they are planning larger follow-up trials. PeptiSleep is available as a powder ingredient, suitable for various formulations, and can be used alongside or instead of other ingredients such as melatonin.
