Consuming protein throughout the day can support muscle growth, recovery, and energy levels, while also aiding in weight loss and contributing to heart health, as noted by The George Washington University Hospital. This guideline is a central aspect of Life Time's 30 Strong Challenge, which emphasizes whole foods, and is set to begin on October 5 with registration currently open.

In a recent survey, 42.3% of respondents identified getting stronger as their top health goal for 2026, while 46.5% intended to increase their weightlifting activities. Anika Christ, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer at Life Time, emphasized that strength training combined with adequate protein intake is key. "Strength training creates the opportunity. Protein helps your body do something with it. That's why we recommend starting with 30 grams of quality protein at every meal," Christ stated.

The 30 Strong Challenge, entering its third year after attracting 66,000 participants in 2025, focuses on helping participants re-establish consistency in healthy habits as fall approaches. In addition to the protein target, participants will engage in sustainable habits, such as completing workouts, achieving 8,000 steps daily, drinking enough water, ensuring adequate sleep, practicing self-care, and spending time outdoors.

Examples of foods that provide around 30 grams of protein include:

- Grilled chicken breast (30 grams)

- Roasted turkey breast (34 grams per four ounces)

- A 6-ounce steak (42 grams)

- 1.5 cups of extra-firm tofu (30 grams)

- Five hard-boiled eggs (approximately 6 grams each)

- One cup of cottage cheese (30 grams)

While whole foods are prioritized, Life Time offers convenient protein powders for those with busy lifestyles, including their LTH protein line featuring Build Whey+ All-in-One and Fuel Vegan+ All-in-One, both providing 30 grams of protein per serving.
